Personal BIO |
In business I'm driven by a passion to for innovative business ideas that make money, and the challenge of helping start and manage early growth technical products and services that have the capacity to redefine how we live and/or do business. I enjoy working with talented people who are at heart revolutionaries. The Internet is a singular media opportunity as it affords an almost instant access to a powerful global marketplace where the success or failure of ideas can be gauged quickly, cost effectively and with the least amount of wasted resources. Like few other mass mediums, it offers the possibility to implement ideas and to see the results of sales and marketing efforts immediately and cheaply. As lead entrepreneur in three successful internet startups, I was responsible for writing our business plans and obtaining several rounds of funding. I oversaw the merger of our company - and later on, it's acquisition, and then as Senior V.P. of Marketing within a division of the new parent company, while preparing to go public, I led technology teams in the delivery of Internet software products. During a time of rapid growth, I stayed directly connected to the day-to-day performance of our most critical departments. Due to it's crucial role in driving our success, I personally oversaw the efforts and of our Support Staff who provided round the clock support for our + 18,000 clients. What I enjoyed most however was being part of Software Product Marketing and overseeing the efforts of our revolutionaries - a small team of talented software engineers. I
regularly took Technical Support calls to keep firsthand experience of customer feedback,
and this I believe enabled us to respond quickly and accurately with product
updates that reflected our client's needs and desires (This I feel is
also a testament
to the efficacy of smaller entrepreneurial business units). |

WORK HISTORY |
6/2006 - Present |

|
BizDev In the fall of 2004 when my previous angel investor Andre Hawit sold his software company (IDS) for $48m (half cash, half stock) to a blue chip semiconductor software maker, I concluded that the "software business model" was truly hard to beat. You spend two or three years developing a product and then sell it a million times over for the cost of burning a CD Disc (99 cents). Then you have a half dozen additional ways of creating streams of revenue: Implementation, Support Contracts, Enhancements, New Product Roll Outs, -- it's endless. And the key to success in software is simple: "get what your competition doesn't" by listening to your customer. In the end, "software" is a service (programming and support), and client retention depends on listening to, and responding quickly to the needs of every client. |

|
Consultant - Business / Marketing / Internet After the sale of CardSecure/eHost to NetworkCommerce for seven million (pre-IPO) in 1999, I thought I would retire and become a mini venture capitalist. That was until the stock market melted down in technology (then telecom, then semiconductor). The joke in the San Francisco night life at the time was "The CEO of such-and-such company is our waiter!" Instead of venture capitalist, I became a hired gun, consulting on tech marketing and search-engine marketing strategies. During this time I wrote a few marketing plans; one for IDS - a maker of Productivity Software for Semiconductor Manufacturing - and another for a developer of micro-tubing for implantable medical devices - and I took on a handful of web clients for whom I managed their entire Internet presence and Search engine marketing and online commerce. |
